All the 11 districts in Vidarbha are reeling under heatwave, except for Buldana and Gadchiroli, by registering maximum day temperature over 44 degrees C on Saturday. The day temperature in Nagpur has reduced a little to 44.6 degrees C on Saturday from yesterday’s 45.2 degrees C but citizens felt the brunt of scorching heat.
Chandrapur has recorded highest temperature of 46.6 degrees C today from yesterday’s 46.4 degrees C, becoming the hottest place in the region. it has recorded such highest temperature in April month in the century Brahmapuri is closely following Chandrapur in temperature figures as it recorded 46.3 degrees C today, sizzling the people throughout the day.
Akola and Wardha are also hot places in Vidarbha by recording day temperature at 45.5 degrees C and 45.0 degrees C. Then come Gondia – 44.5 degrees C, Amravati – 44.2 degrees C and Yavatmal – 44.0 degrees C. Buldana and Gadchiroli are still below 43 degrees C with temperature at 42.0 degrees C and 42.8 degrees C. The temperature at Washim district was not made available till filing of the report.
Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert saying that Chandrapur and Akola would face heat wave at one or two pockets from May 1 to 3 while Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal will experience heat wave on May 1 at certain pockets.
