Heaps of debris of the demolished shops lies in Sitabuldi, the main market of Nagpur. The Nagpur Improvement Trust demolished 35 shops on Monday. The shops were temporary accommodation for the shops, under redevelopment of the area in Regal compound. The shop owners, however, did not vacate the place after allotment of shops on a regular basis.
NIT had to initiate action against them and facilitate functioning of the Glocal Mall. The shops upto Bombaywalla were razed completely on Monday. The debris, however, was not removed.
The drive started on Abhyankar Road, beside Sitabuldi interchange station, and settled finally at the entry gate to Regal Talkies on Sitabuldi main road.
Now, hawkers are selling their products on the roadside and behind lies the debris of the demolished shops.
