Rakul Preet Singh has created a successful career in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema in a short period of time. Venkatadri Express (2013), Yaariyan (2014), Sarrainodu (2016), Spyder (2017), De De Pyaar De (2020), and many more are on the list.
Speaking about his film journey so far, Rakul said, “I’ll just say that good films were always watched, those films had an audience on TV. Many of my films were dubbed and were super hits in Hindi. This has been happening since before, but now, since the films are released theatrically, you and I are talking about this because the audience who wouldn’t have watched the films earlier now has a platform to watch them.
I am a true believer that cinema has no language, it only has emotion, and wherever films are being made they will be appreciated all over India. It’s great that South Indian films are Speaking exclusively to us, Rakul said, “I’ll just say that good films were always watched, those films had an audience on TV. Just imagine if we contribute together and make content.”
Movies are now releasing in theatres once again, but the OTT content boom is not showing signs of slowing down. Ask Rakul if she is open to doing something for OTT and she replies, “I definitely have it on my mind that if there is something completely path-breaking, something exciting, I would love to do it. OTT is coming out with such great content. The kind of reach and experimentation that’s happening, it’s a new world. I’m excited to see what unfolds in the future in the Indian space of OTT. We have really made some good shows, so if I get something nice, I would love to be a part of OTT!”
Rakul was last seen in the Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Runway 34. The film received mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike. It, however, failed to make a mark at the box office.
