A torch rally (flame) has been organised on July 2 from Zero Mile at 6.40 am in view of 44th Olympiad Chess Tournament organised by the International Chess Federation for the first time in India at Chennai from July 28 to August 10.
The rally will pass through Samvidhan Chowk, AIR Square, Maharajbag, Law College, Ravinagar Square, Wadi T-point, Hingna Link Road, GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering & Technology, Shraddha Park, MIDC Police Station and then reach to the venue of the programme. The way to reach Nagpur airport is via Raisoni Institute, Hingna T-point and Chhatrapati Chowk.
District administration, Raunak Sadhwani, Grand Master in Chess, Divya Deshmukh, Sankalp Gupta, international players in different games, prize winners, sports lovers, office-bearers of State Chess Association, Sports Department and others will hand over the flame of Olympiad Tournament to the Grand Master. The master will carry the flame towards airport.
Pallavi Dhatrak, District Sports Officer, District Chess Association and Nehru Krida Kendra have appealed to players, prize winners and sports lovers in welcoming the holy flame and participating in the rally in large numbers.
Such torch rallies will also be held at 75 iconic places in the country to mark Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava to accord warm welcome to the flame and to promote youths for chess.
