Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is on tour to Wardha and Chandrapur districts to review the flood situation.
Chandrapur, Wardha, Gadchiroli, Akola, Amravati districts are facing heavy rains and floods. In the morning Fadnavis reached Hinganghat and proceeded to Chandrapur.
The heavy rains has swept away the top fertile soil in farms causing heavy losses to the farmers. The monsoon was delayed. The farmers opted for sowing operations, mostly paddy, for the second time. This too was washed away and third sowing operations appears difficult as the farms are filled with slush carried by the flood water to their farms.
Fadnavis has assured all possible help to the flood-affected farmers.
With a red alert sounded by IMD in these districts for the next two days, the damage to the cops and agricultural land cannot be estimated now.
Fadnavis will hold discussion with the Divisional Commissioner after the tour.
