The Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached four floors of a commercial building in posh Worli area of Mumbai, owned by former Aviation Minister and MP Praful Patel on Thursday. The ED action is in connection with a money laundering case involving Iqbal Mirchi, a close associate of underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
A firm owned by Patel and his family had developed Ceejay House on a plot where Mirchi also had some properties. Two floors of Ceejay House, given to Iqbal Mirchi were attached by the financial probe agency earlier.
In October 2019 Patel was questioned inKapil and Dheeraj Wadhwan case, the promoters of DHFL.
Iqbal Mirchi’s wife and sons have been declared fugitive economic offenders by PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court, as they failed to appear before the court. Properties belonging to Mirchi in Dubai and the UK have also been attached by the ED.
