Social Welfare Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation has organised Swanidhi Mahotsava on July 29 at Suresh Bhat Hall, Reshimbag, from 10 am under Deendayal Antyoday Yojn Rashtri Nagari Upjivika campaign with a view to making foothpath/roadside vendors self reliant financially.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, will inaugurate the mahotsava at 7 pm in which Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy chief Minister, will be the chief guest. City legislators, Manu Kumar Srivastava, Chief Secretary, Maharashtra, Sonia Sethi, Principal Secretary, Urban Development II, Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, R Vimla, District Collector, Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi, Chairman, NIT, and Dr Kiran Kulkarni, Commissioner, will be the guests of honour.
Under the mahotsava, vendors, Self-Help Group and department will put up as many as 108 stalls on eatables and other items in the premises from 10 am to 10 pm. A training programme on digital affairs, sanitation, e-commerce, SQ Code distribution etc and cultural programme would be held for the vendors. Vendors taking benefits of PM Swanidhi Yojna would also be benefited.
The mahotsava is being celebrated at the directives by Union Housing & Urban Affairs Ministry till August 14 to mark Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava. It has selected 75 iconic places in the city for holding the mahotsava, including Nasik, Kalyan-Dombivli, Murtizapur and Nagpur.
Deepak Kumar Meena and Ram Joshi, both Additional Municipal Commissioners, have appealed to roadside vendors and citizens to take part in the mahotsava in large numbers.
