Dadasaheb Kalmegh Dental College & Hospital (DKDCH), Wanadongri, will get the first Ibrahim Pathan Memorial Environment Award on July 31 at a function to be held at Shrimant Baburao Dhanwatey Hall. Maharashtra Rashtrabhasha Sankul, Shankar Nagar, at 5 pm, in appreciation of their remarkable work in tree plantation.
Vanrai Foundation has instituted this award in memory of Ibrahim Pathan, a school student, who had decided to plant 20,000 saplings on single day – June 5, 2021 – to mark Environemnt Day and he sought permission from schools, educational institutions and MIDC. He executed his plan by planting 18,000 saplings. Unfortunately, Ibrahim Pathan, a 17-year-old student, died on July 31 same year. The foundation has instituted this award in his memory to give encouragement to individuals or organisations to promote tree plantation by making appreciable work.
The selection committee selected DKDCH first time for the award for its plantation activities. The award carries Rs 11,000/- and memento. Dr Girish Gandhi, Trustee of the foundation, has taken initiative in starting the award.
R Vimla, District Collector, will give away the award to representatives of the college while Adv Firdos Mirza will be the guest of honour. Kishor Bawne, Chief Advisor of The Dharampeth Mahila Multi State Coop Society Ltd., will preside over the function.
