Furious at the poor work done by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), vigilant citizens erected banners condemning the civic authorities.
It is the crucial responsibility of NMC to be prepared for any condition that the city might face, especially for seasonal changes like monsoon.
Right from the beginning of June, Nagpur witnessed heavy rainfall and has damaged many public properties, for which NMC has not yet taken any major steps. Many traffic signals are nonfunctional, as well as a lot of roads have developed new and deep potholes which put the commuter’s life at risk. All these conditions have added woes to the citizens’ day-to-day life.
Citizens often take these issues to social media, registering their complaints with NMC, to which the civic authorities respond. However, there are still many unresolved issues faced by citizens.
Meanwhile, active vigilant citizens erected banners in one of the prime locations of the city, Dharampeth has been circulating on many social media groups. The banner reads out a loud message from the public to the civic authorities “NMC cannot maintain traffic signals of the city and speak about smart city.
“What a Joke Shame-Shame†the banner further reads.
Another banner erected near Manish Nagar RUB by MNS workers in Marathi translates “Roads on potholes or potholes on roadsâ€.
All these issues and major actions taken by the Nagpurkars clearly show the vulnerability of the authorities. Also, it blows out a strong message that despite several planning and implementation of various schemes to make Nagpur a smart city there are a lot of unresolved issues to be taken care of.
