As part of its campaign to empower and advance tribals the Madhya Pradesh government has allowed the sale of Mahua liquor made by tribals in bars of MP.
The government is planning to sell Mahua liquor in other states as well as abroad.
The notification for the production of Mahua as ‘heritage liquor-announced by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was issued on Tuesday.
It will be manufactured by two self-help groups in tribal-majority districts of Dindori and Alirajpur.
As a pilot project, Mahua will be first served in 18 hotels and bars run by MP Tourism. Although the price is yet to be decided but the quality of the liquor will be at par with any reputable brand.
The government is also planning to sell this liquor made from flowers in other states as well as abroad.
