National Democratic Alliance Vice Presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar is the 14th Vice-President of India.
As many as 725 MPs of the total 780 voted in the elections. Around 93 per cent polling was recorded in the vice presidential election on Saturday, with more than 50 MPs not exercising their franchise.
Out of 780 electors comprising elected & nominated members of the RS & elected members of LS, 725 electors cast their votes. Total voter turnout – 92.94% informed Utpal Kumar Singh, Lok Sabha Secretary-General.
NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankar won by 346 votes as he bagged 528 of the total 725 votes that were cast. While 15 were termed invalid, Opposition candidate Margret Alva received 182 votes in the election: LS Gen-Secy Utpal K Singh.
