Following the opening of all 16 gates of Navegaon -Khari dam a flood-like situation arises and due to heavy rains in the upstream and catchment area of Kanhan river, the turbidity of the river water has substantially increased. There is too much dunnage & vegetation flowing in river water which is causing frequent chocking of intake well strainers (Juni Kamptee) at Kanhan Water Treatment Plant.

Due to such frequent strainer clogging issues in Kanhan WTP, Residents of North, East and parts of South Nagpur use to get restricted and low pressure water supply. However, to tackle all these difficulties Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Orange City Water have recently trained local divers with Scuba Diving and they are cleaning the strainer chockegs more efficiently than earlier.
Earlier local divers who used to clean the strainers chokage have to face difficulties, but now thanks for all the necessary gears and the training with scuba diving it has become easier and simple for the divers to go inside deep water and clean strainers.
