The President has appointed Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Judge of the Supreme Court, as the new Chief Justice of India with effect from August 27 in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India.
SKG Rahate, Secretary to the Central government, issued a notification on Wednesday in this regard.
