The city is decked to celebrate the 75th anniversary of independence. The city is illuminated in three colours of the national flag. The statues of historical heroes and martyrs, 75 squares have been decorated. Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Hall, Yeshvant Stadium and Chitnis Park are decorated with special light effects and will have a special light show.
The preparations are being done under the instructions and guidance of Municipal Commissioner B Radhakrishnan.
Prominent office buildings of Nagpur Municipal Corporation have been illuminated. Two prominent streets have been illuminated with lighting in three colours. The monuments have been cleaned to mark the occasion. The history of the freedom struggle will be depicted in various squares.
The roads between Samvidhan Chowk and Ladies Club; and Shankar Nagar Square to Seminary Hills Japani Garden are being illuminated in tricolour as Tiranga Path.
In all 75 squares in all NMC zones have been illuminated to mark the occasion.
