The 75th Independence Day celebrations are
most likely to be a rainy affair with Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing ‘orange
alert’ for August 14 and ‘yellow alert’ for August
15 and 16.
On Thursday, citizens got respite from
rains that were lashing the city from last one
week. However, heavy rain are expected to make a comeback in the city from August 14 to 16.
Along with Nagpur city, the Weather Department
has also issued ‘orange alert’ for Gadchiroli, Bhandara and Gondia district on August 14 and
‘yellow alert’ from August 15 to 17 all over
Vidarbha.
On Thursday, most places in Vidarbha were dry. Gondia received highest 8 mm rainfall followed by Buldana 3 mm, Wardha 3 mm, Akola 2 mm and.Nagpur 0.8 mm. Due to heavy rains the water
stock in all dams in Vidarbha is above 90 percent.
The administration has opened gates of many dams which also increased the water level
in rivers.
