District Disaster Management Department has shifted 2041 persons from 658 families in Bhandara district to safer places because of water gushing in their low-lying areas because of incessant rains and release of high amount of water from Gosikhurd Irrigation Project.
The administration said on Friday that it and voluntary organisations made lodging and boarding arrangements for the shifted persons.
District Disaster Search and Rescue Squad and State Disaster Rapid Response Force extended services to shift the people from Bhandara taluka, Bhandara city, Tumsar and Mohadi tehsils. The arrangements for flood-affected persons have been made at various schools, community halls, gram panchayat halls and other places.
