Civic authorities had decided to relocate the shopkeepers who are affected in the shop complex as the road would be widened under the Maha-Metro railway project.
Under this process, 160 shopkeepers were served notices under the provisions of Section 81(B) (2) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act to vacate the shops. of which 129 shopkeepers took cognizance of the notice and submitted their reply.
The civic authorities also allotted 57 shops through lottery system at Mahametro complex.
In year 2019, shop owners and NGOs had opposed the demolition of the flyover. The shop owners demanded compensation and the authority should give shops to those who are willing to take another shop.
