Over 140 intern doctors of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur (LMH) on Monday decided to withdraw health services and go on strike as they have been demanding an increase in stipend.
Ashutosh Ade, a representative said that “they have been demanding from the college management to increase stipend from Rs 3000 to at least Rs 6000 to Rs 7,000”.
“We have been requesting our dean to increase our stipend and resolve the issue however; there is no assurance from the management yet”, he said.
“It is a peaceful protest and we are following all the protocol however, the management is putting pressure on us to end the protest, he said.
“We have been going through mental pressure for the past three months, and our demand is that the stipend should be increased, and hospital management should provide a written assurance of the same,” Ade said.
We will continue the strike till our demands are not met, he informed.
