An engine malfunctioned on an IndiGo plane with 187 passengers on board that was headed to Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon, according to a senior official. S V T Dhananjaya Rao, the airport director, said that all of the passengers were safely unloaded by the Indian Navy’s rescue troops.
As per reports, the Navy troops had driven the aircraft to the taxi bay. The Navy’s INS Hansa station includes the Goa airport.
A technical issue with the right engine forced IndiGo aircraft 6E 6097, travelling from Goa to Mumbai with 187 passengers, including four infants, to abort the trip at 1:27 PM, according to Rao. It had to be pushed back from Bay number nine, sources said, adding that the movement of other aircraft was not affected due to the incident.
