Renowned social worker Dr Prakash Amte has been discharged from Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune. He was being treated for rare blood cancer for the last one and a half months.
Magsaysay award winner Dr Amte is serving the tribals in remote Hemalkasa village in Bhamragadh taluka of Gadchiroli district. He started the project under the banner of Lokbiradari Prakalp, about four decades ago.
Dr Amte was admitted to Mangeshkar Hospital after the blood cancer was detected. After undergoing five chemotherapy, he was discharged from the hospital, as his health condition is improving. He, however, has been advised complete rest for a few more days.
