The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a Rs 25 lakh cash reward for underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and a Rs 20 lakh reward for Chhota Shakeel.
In addition, the investigation agency has announced a Rs 15 lakh cash reward for other D-Company members such as Tiger Memon, Anees Ibrahim, and Javed Chikna.
According to NIA officials, Dawood Ibrahim, a fugitive wanted in India for terror-related activities, is establishing a special unit in India to smuggle explosives, weapons, counterfeit currency, and drugs. The US-designated global terrorist is said to be planning terror attacks in India with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter Services Intelligence.
According to NIA a special unit of D Gang is also plans to carry out targeted attacks on certain political figures and businessmen and support sleeper cells of Jaish e Mohammed (JeM), Al Qaeda and Lashakar e Taiba (LeT) to carry out attacks in indian cities.
“Dawood Ibrahim who has been designated as a global terrorist by the United Nations under United Nations Security Resolution 1257 and also listed under the fourth schedule of UAPA Act 1967 runs an international terrorist network named D-Company,” the NIA said in a statement on Thursday.
Earlier this year, the NIA had conducted raids at various placeds in connect with Dawood Ibrahim. “During the searches conducted today at premises of the suspected associates of Dawood Ibrahim, various incriminating materials, including electronic devices, documents of investments in real estate, cash and firearms, were seized,” a press statement by the agency had said.
