The magisterial custody of Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut has been extended up to September 19. Raut was arrested on July 31 in connection with the Patra Chawl corruption case in Mumbai.
The PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) court extended his custody for further enquiry into the case. . The Enforcement Directorate wanted extension of his custody as enquiry was not complete. Raut was granted eight-day ED custody and then magisterial custody. A journalist, who was editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Samna’ is in jail for the last 35 days. Surprisingly he has not applied for bail so far.
Guru Ashish Compnay was granted contract of re-development (Slum Development) of Parta Chawl in Goregaon sub-ub of Mumbai. Raut was allegedly involved in granting increased FSI (Flood Space Index) to the company. The scandal is estimated to be of more than 1000 crore. ED suspects transfer of Rs 55 lakh in the bank accounts of Sanjay Raut’s wife in this connection. More information about property purchase of Sanjay Raut and his wife is being investigated.
