The administration are planning to implement various programmes to strengthen ZP schools, such as the distribution of free books, uniforms, and mid-day meals. However, the scenario is quite bleak, and the number of students in ZP schools is decreasing by the day.
According to reports, 450 zilla parishad (ZP) schools have fewer than 20 students. Officials have stated that if the number of students does not increase, many of these schools may be forced to close.
According to sources, the number of students enrolled in ZP schools has decreased by 15,000-20,000 over the last few years.
Apart from other factors, ZP education department conducts periodic evaluations of students to keep a check on strength in schools and number of schools closed.
As per the latest review, there are 1,515 ZP schools having 3,825 teachers. Of these, around 1,000 schools are digital, claim ZP officials. There are some ZP schools in the district where students from other villages come to study.
