Workers of Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) have decided to intensify its agitation to press the long-pending dermand for formation of separate state of Vidarbha by burning copy of Nagpur Pact on September 28 in all tehsil places of 11 districts of Vidarbha with raising slogans like ‘Jaa Ge Marbat’.
This was stated by Wamanrao Chatap, Leader of the samiti, while addressing a press conference at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan here on Thursday. The samiti also held a meeting of the core committee yesterday in which the decision to intensify the agitation was taken.
Chatap further said that the workers would launch ‘Aatmaklesh’ agitation on Oc tober 2 in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Phule w2ile a deputation of leaders would meet District Collector, Sub-Divisional Officer and Tehsildar and submit memoranda addressed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. On Novevember 11, the leaders would demand to all 10 MPs from Vidarbha whether they are allotting separate Vidarbha state or leaving chairs.
Arun Kedar, Vishnu Ashtikar, Mukesh Masurkar, Ranjana Mamarde, Rekha Nimje, Jyoti Khandekar, Madhuri Chauhan, Veena Bhoyar and Vijay Maunekar were present at the press conference.
