Top Seed Jay Sawalakhe in Open Group and 11th Seeded Swanandi Anil Sole in Girls Group Annex the Title of the Nagpur District Under-13 Open and Girls Chess Championship organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur which concluded.
Top Seed Jay Sawalakhe true to his Seeding toppled the overnight leader Arush Chitre in the sixth round. He Annexed the Title with another win in last round over Shauak Bodole to reach 6.5 points. Arush Chitre who was leading the table till 5th round scored scored over Arava Bhatia to reach 6 points and finished second. In the Girls Group, Swanandi Anil Sole scored over Ridhi Girish Agrawal in the final round to reach 5 points to Bag the Title.
Ridhi Agrawal, Shraddha Bajaj, Vidhi Mishtrikotkar and Divyanshi Khandelwal all scored 4 points but were placed from 2nd to 5th in the Final Ranking based on the Tie Break Score. Jay and Arush in Open Group and Swanandi and Ridhi in Girl Group shall represent Nagpur District in the upcoming Maharashtra State Under-13 FIDE Rating Open Chess Championship to be held at Nagpur from 2nd to 4th October 2022.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Prominent Sports Personality of Nagpur City Shri Shatrughna Gokhale, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee for Basketball and Secretary of Maha Basketball Association. Shri S.S.Soman, MCA Tournament Committee Member, Shri Bhushsan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur and Kalpanan Prakash Welfare Foundation and Chief Arbiter Shri Amrish Joshi were present on the occasion.
