Various sarvajanik mandals carried idols of Durga goddess in grand processions with band parties and bursting crackers and installed them in different localities of the city on Monday to celebrate Navratri festival. Similarly, many citizens also installed deities in their homes with religious fervour and great enthusiasm.
The enthusiasm amongst the mandal workers and others was evident this year during celebrations of ten-day festival as the mandals could not celebrate the festival for the last two years, owing to coronavirus pandemic. Now, their vigour has no bounds during the festive season.
The police imposed some traffic restrictions when the big processions of Durga Mata were being taken from Chitar Oli and other areas to mandal places from main streets. Devotees, particularly women, welcomed the processions at various places.
The mandals will organise religious and social programmes during Navratri festival.
Meanwhile, a number of devotees have started visiting Agyaram Devi, Koradi Devi, Durga Devi and other temples for worshipping and seeking blessings from goddess
