Maharshtra State Information Commission, Nagpur, will give stress on live screening, online and hybrid hearing of cases on regular basis in order to sort out cases speedily and bring zero pendency.
This was stated by Rahul Pande, State Commissioner, Information, Nagpur, who is also holding charge of Aurangabad, while addressing a press conference in his office here on Wednesday, after attending RTI Day programme.
Pande said that he thought of a road map now to sort out the cases by bringing certain positive changes in the functioning. He is trying to remove the backlog while there is pendency of 4800. He said that he sorted out cases online on district level because the people from Gondia, Bhandara, Gadchiroli could not come here in the flood situation. By doing this, such persons can save energy, time and money and it becomes easy for them.
Pande has decided to sort out a case in 45 days and he will start this from the current RTI Fortnight upto October 10, beginning with surprise visits to gram panchayats for solving the cases there only. He also wanted to remove prevailing misconception that if a case goes to the Commission then it would take two years. He assured that he would not make any damage to the faith among the people about administration.
The Commissioner has asked the high police officials to offence against persons missing RTI for blackmailing or extortion. The people should also lodge complaints in this connection with the police stations and the Commission, he pointed out.
Earlier, addressing the RTI Day function at the same venue, Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, appreciating Pande for speedy sorting of the cases with team spirit and by bringing officials, employees and people on one platform. Pande even worked effectively even in the challenging situation of coronavirus pandemic, he added.
Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector, was the chief guest of the function while Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer, Hemraj Bagul, Director, Information, and Suvarna Pande, Asstt Director, Treasury, were seated on the dais. Ms Jadhav conducted the programme.
