Minister for Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar has directed the officials to prepare a draft plan for all drama theatres. The Maharashtra Government would plan funds for their renovation. Mungantiwar also stated that funds between Rs 4 crore and Rs 10 crore may be given for renovation work.
The theatres with a seating capacity of 400, 600, 800 or 900 may be under the plan. The state has 83 theatres, including 28 private, 51 under local bodies and four of the state government. Their renovation is necessary.
