The National Election Commission has declared the programme for revewing voters’ lists based on November 2022 cut-off date for ensuing elections to Nagpur Regional Teachers Constituency with publishing of electoral on October 1.
This was stated by Dr Vipin Itankar, Collector and District Returning Officer, while addressing a press conference in the Collectorate here on Thursday. He said, directives have been received for preparing voters’ lists (de-novo) newly. The election is being held as the sitting MLC Nago Ganar is retiring on February 7, 2023. He said that an awareness programme is being taken in order to motivate more voters to register their names. There were 35,000 voters in the constituency last year, he added.
He pointed that first and second re-publishing of the notification would be done October 15 and 25 while claims and objections would be accepted till November 7. As per the programme, printing of draft electoral lists will be held on November 19 and draft lists would be published on November 23. The period for receiving claims and objections would be from November 23 to December 9. The disposal of claims/objections would be done December 25 while the final list would be published on December 30, Dr Itankar pointed out.
