With Diwali approaching, residents should be extra cautious, especially when dealing with cash, as a fake currency racket is active in the city. Three members of the racket’s operating gang were apprehended in Pune. The cops have launched an operation to apprehend other gang members.
Atul Kumar Mishra (Khadki, Pune), Ravi Shukla, and Rajul Kumar Raj Bahadur, both residents of Lohegaon, Pune, were arrested. The arrested accused told police that their gang was active in two other cities across the country.
The police and other in vestigating agencies swung into action as soon as the matter came to the fore. An investigating agency official refused to divulge details when contacted for his re sponse. Sources informed that the accused persons ar rested in Pune have links to West Bengal. They used to get a supply of fake currency notes of 500 from West Ben gal. These notes used to be supplied to three other cities before Pune.
“Many vital information came to the fore during the interrogation of the accused arrested in Pune. The police are said to have also found evidence of terror funding. Therefore, the case will be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Apart from this, investigation agencies of other states are also being contacted,” sources informed.
