The preparation for Maharashtra Legislature’s Winter Session, which will take place in Nagpur after a two-year hiatus, has begun. The session will start on December 19. Prior to that, on December 10, the State Legislature Secretariat will begin function in the city.
The Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat’s Deputy Secretary, Ruturaj Kudtarkar, sent a circular to several departments regarding this. The Secretariat will close in Mumbai on December 8 after business hours and reopen in Nagpur on December 10 at 9.45 am, according to the circular.
Though the Winter Session is scheduled to commence from December19, sections dealing with various Legislature Committees shall continue to function at Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai.
The communications intended for Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat, andthose which are not likely toreach Vidhan Bhavan inMumbai before 4 pm onDecember 8, may be sent toVidhan Bhavan, Nagpur, stated the circular.
State Government’s Mantralaya departments may deliver by special messenger all communications relating to matters pertaining to any of the Legislature Committees at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai.
During the tenure of MahaVikas Aghadi (MVA) Government, comprising Congress, Nationalist CongressParty, and Shiv Sena (led by Uddhav Thackeray), Winter Session of State Legislature was last held in December 2019.Inthe next two years, the session was not held in Nagpur despite the provisions of Nagpur Pact.
With the change of guard and BJP-Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) alliance Government in power, all eyes are on the Winter Session scheduled to be held in Nagpur in December this year.
