Those feeding stray dogs in public places will attract a fine of Rs 200. The fine can be imposed if Nagpur Municipal Corporation officials notice it or receive a complaint in this connection.
The civic authorities have started the action, following an order issued by the High Court. The court has issued directions because of problems faced by the citizens due to stray dogs.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Ram Joshi has appealed to the people to cooperate and refrain from feeding stray dogs on streets, gardens and other public places. Those interested in feeding them should first adopt them and take the dog home. They should also register their names with the Municipal Corporation or take them to a dog shelter. Dog lovers are also advised to vaccinate dogs properly.
People, who notice such an act, may also register their complaints on NMC’s social media app, informs a press note issued by NMC.
