Viveka Hospital to inaugurate central India’s first stroke helpline and stroke unit today by the hands of Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram Sir who is The Trustee of the World Federation of Neurology and an eminent neurologist from Nagpur.
Dr. Chandrashekhar Meshram told The Live Nagpur this morning that there is less awareness amongst the people in regard to the understanding of stroke. He also added that stroke is the second most cause of death globally. And it is essential for people to understand the causes, and symptoms of a stroke.
An application has been made for the people where the application will be making arrangements for the patient’s quick help through which an ambulance will be sent to the patient’s home. A helpline number will also be provided which will be declared today.
If the patient reaches the hospital within less than 3 hours of the stroke, the chances of survival are high. The clots can be dissolved through the injections if the patient received medical help in time.
Dr Dinesh Kabra, Neurologist with Central India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur in conversation with The Live Nagpur mentioned that there are 200 per lakh per year cases of stroke. He also added, high blood pressure, and smoking causes blood clots which leads to a heart attack.
