- Additional Commissioner appeals to citizens to cooperate
Citing order of Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, Nagpur Municipal Corporation is taking action regarding stray/stray dogs. In response, NMC has made its social media system active and is open to handling stray dog complaints.
Municipalities charge fines of Rs 200 for feeding stray/stray dogs in public places or upon receiving complaints about it. In addition to the court orders, this action was initiated in response to the trouble stray dogs cause to citizens, said Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi.
The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Thursday ordered the Nagpur authorities and police to take stern action against anyone obstructing their efforts to deal with the stray dog menace.
According to the court, people who want to feed strays must first adopt them and then feed them inside their homes.
As per the court’s order, apart from written and online media, complaints will also be accepted through WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook through the Dog Control Cell of the Municipal Corporation.
