A powerful earthquake of 6.3 magnitude hit Nepal in the wee hours of Wednesday, killing at least six people. They died after a house collapsed in Doti district. Five others who suffered injuries have been shifted to a hospital.
According to news agency ANI, tremors were also felt in New Delhi and neighbouring areas around 2 am..
Several houses have been damaged in the earthquake. Nepal Army personnel have been sent to the affected areas for rescue operations.
The National Centre for Seismology stated that the epicenter of the quake was 90 kms south-east of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand bordering Nepal and was 10 kms below the earth surface.
