The new rules for admission to medical courses have posed some serious problems for the admission seekers.
The students after mentioning choice of the colleges they wish to be admitted expect upgradation, in case of vacancies in any higher grade college. However, the admission seekers are now required to resign the option of the college, where they have been admitted after the first and second Cap rounds. If a student opts for Mop Up round then he first has to resign from the Round 1 or Round 2 allotted seat.
The students are not left with the option as they are required to opt out of the college they have been allotted, if they want to try for a better college. The reasons for selection of any particular college could be different, higher graded college, better infrastructure, better teaching facility or even proximity to the home.
If they wish to try for a better college in the Mop Up round and fail to get admission, they are totally out of the list. They will have to wait for another year for admission to the important course. The college, where the student was admitted can fill up the vacancy from among the student in the waiting list. Those opting for the Mop Up round will not be able to claim the seat allotted earlier in the first two rounds.
Till last year this rule was not applicable and a student could apply in Mop Up round and hope for a better college.
Now with this rule there are chances that a student with lower Neet Score can get a seat in premiere college and a deserving candidate will have to compromise with lower grade college
A large number of students and their parents contacted The Live Nagpur to inform about the issue. They wish that the rule causes a great injustice to the students aspiring to become a doctor and serve the people.
