Three men barged into a 42-year-old woman’s home in Mumbai, gang-raped her, attacked her with a sharp weapon, and burned her private parts with cigarettes, according to police officials.
The incident occurred in Kurla in the early hours of Wednesday, and the accused lived in the same neighbourhood as the victim.
“The accused raped her one by one and also engaged in unnatural sex with her. They burned her private parts with cigarettes and stabbed her in the chest and both arms with a sharp weapon. One of the defendants videotaped the incident and threatened to distribute it if she approached police,” said the police official.
The woman told her neighbours about her ordeal after the men threatened her not to approach the police. They contacted an NGO and filed FIR, Kurla police station official said.
The trio has been charged under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 376D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 324 (voluntarily inflicting harm with a dangerous weapon), and other offences, police said.
