PCMC Fire Brigade confirmed that a fire broke out at an agarbatti (incense stick) manufacturing factory in Pandharkar Nagar, Akurdi on Tuesday morning.
400 students were vacated from a nearby school after the fire quickly began to intensify. “About 400 students and staff members from Beena English Medium School have been vacated as a precautionary measure,” said a fire officer. The factory is located near a slum and along a railway line.
The Pune fire brigade rescued a seriously injured driver from an overturned truck on Tuesday morning. The accident took place at the Katraj viaduct, near Jambhulwadi, on the Bengaluru-Mumbai national highway at around 3:30 am, said, officials.
