In the wake of the outbreak of measles in certain parts of the state and country, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation will be conducting a special vaccination drive for children in two phases.
The first phase will be from December 15 to 25, 2022 and the second will be from January 15 to 25, 2023.
Dr. Mohammad Sajid gave the information about this drive in the ‘task force meeting held on Tuesday in NMC in the Dr. Pannjabrao Deshmukh Memorial hall.
During the meeting besides Dr.Narendra Bahirwar, Health Medical Officer, Dr.Vijay Joshi, Dr.Balbir Singh Bill, Dr.Meenakshi Mane, Dr.Megha Jaitwar, Dr.Preti Zarar, Dr.Vakul Pande, Dr.Priya Meshram, Dr.Vivekanand, Dr.Dipankar Bhivgade, Dr.Atik Khan and Dr. Vijay Kumar Tiwari were also present.
Dr.Bahirwar took stock of the routine measles vaccination program during the meeting.
Dr.Sajid said that though there were measles cases reported from some parts of the state the situation was under control in Nagpur city. “This special drive is to cover the non-vaccinated children. All children between the age of nine months to 15 years should take this vaccine even if they have taken it earlier,” he said.
Health workers, Asha workers, and employees of the Primary Health Centres are working for registering the children and helping the NMC.
The vaccination drive will also include the Rubella vaccine for children.
