The effect of the Mandous Cyclone which had led to a sudden rise in minimum temperatures in Vidarbha region since December 12 onwards (when the temperature had shot up from 11.8 to 21.2) has begun to fall gradually. And so the minimum temperature in city and region have begun to decrease in last two days.
The cyclone had led to sudden increase in minimum temperature due to moisture wind incursion from Bay of Bengal Sea and the wind direction was in south east towards Vidarbha.
Nagpur recorded a minimum of 19.7 degrees on Wednesday which is fall of 0.9 degrees. Yet it is 6.9 degrees above normal.
Akola was the warmest at 21.7 degrees (8.4 above normal) while Gadchiroli was the coldest at 16.6 degrees.
The minimum temperatures recorded in other cities in region in decreasing order are as follows –Chandrapur 20.0 degrees (6.3 degrees above normal), Yavatmal 20.0 degrees (5.4 above normal) Amravati 19.7 (4.7 degrees above normal) Buldhana 19.5 degrees (5.0 degrees above normal), Gondia 19.5 degrees (7.2 degrees above normal), Wardha 19.4 (5.7 degrees above normal), Washim 19.2 degrees,
