Emcee Amar Jajoo, who hails from Nagpur and is settled in Mumbai, hosted ‘Robowars’ and ‘Technoholix’ at the 26 th edition of the three-day Techfest 2022-23 at the prestigious IIT Bombay on December 16 and 17. Techfest is Asia’s largest technical festival, which is attended every year by thousands of students across India. The theme of this year’s Techfest was ‘Submerged Sojourn.’
On December 16 and 17, Amar hosted the qualifying rounds of International Robowars at the open-air theatre on the IIT Bombay campus. Robowars is India’s largest robot combat competition where
participants from around the globe battle each other for the coveted Robowars champion title. During
the competition, several teams from across India, Russia and Bangladesh competed against each other
in the 8 kg, 16 kg, 30 kg and 60 kg weight category. The final rounds of the competition were hosted
by popular Battlebots announcer Faruq Tauheed.
On December 17 evening, Amar hosted the first day event of Techfest’s most electrifying extravaganza – Technoholix – at the convocation hall at the campus. On the first day of Technoholix, which is also referred to as TechX, more than 2000 people witnessed exciting performances by Germany’s ‘The Light Crew’ and India’s famed dance crew ‘Illuminati.’ The second day of Technoholix was an EDM night, which was headlined by famed DJ and record producer Maddix with DJ Krispie and Oxlo also performing at the event.
Apart from various important workshops for students, Techfest also gave a chance to students to listen to lectures from renowned people like Suresh Prabhu (Former Railway Minister), Lars Rusmussen (Co-founder, Google Maps), Kathryn Leuders (Associate Administrator, NASA), Tarja Halonen (First woman President of Finland). Past speakers at Techfest include: Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Dalai Lama, NR Narayana Murthy, former cricketer Zaheer Khan among many other distinguished personalities.
Amar Jajoo, who has been hosting events since the last eight years, has hosted 1000+ college,
corporate and wedding events across India. He has also worked as a journalist for 11 years.
