On Tuesday, Malvika Bansod, from Nagpur city makes a victory by becoming India’s second-best women’s singles player after PV Sindhu and also by racing ahead of Saina Nehwal.
Malvika Bansod jumped two places to reach her career-best world ranking of 32 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Tuesday.
Malvika was placed 34 for the last couple of weeks and now outshined Saina with 37310 points.
Saina Nehwal is lying at 33rd with 36920 points, while Malvika’s fellow countrywoman, Aakarshi Kashyap is following closely at 35th.
PV Sindhu’s world ranking is currently seven, she is a double Olympic medallist. India No. 1 Malvika had a great 2022 in which she achieved several feats including an upset win over legendary Saina Nehwal early this year at the India Open Super 500 tournament in New Delhi.
Malvika is supported by Vishvaraj Infrastructure Limited (VIL) and trains under the guidance of senior coach Sanjay Mishra in Raipur.
Malvika has been doing exceedingly well this year having finished as runners-up at the Italian International and Syed Modi India International tournaments.
