HRD Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association and NIPM Nagpur Chapter jointly organised a session on “Collaborative Employee Relationship Management in New Era” recently at VIA Auditorium, Nagpur.
Guest Speaker, Dr Sapna Sharma, who is the TedX Speaker, International Counselor, Life Coach, Motivational Speaker & an Author. She guided and shared tips on employee relations, which are important because they form the foundation of trust between an organisation and its employees.
Dr Sapna elaborated that all human relationships including employers & employees involve expectations. Employee expectations include Respect, timely & accurate payment of wages, safe working conditions, on the other hand employers expectations include hard work, dedication towards work, sincerity but when expectations are not met the real trouble starts.
She explained Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The theory states that humans are motivated to fulfill their needs in a hierarchical order. This order begins with the most basic needs before moving on to more advanced needs, physiological needs are the most essential things a person needs to survive, second level consists of safety needs then third levels needs are love and belonging needs. This level outlined the need for love, respect, intimacy, etc.
She said nowadays employers need respect & empathy from employers, if they don’t get that they quit the job. older generation employers used to work for the same company throughout their life but the new generation don’t have enough patience and have more options. Employers relationship management is essential for both employers and employees, if both would be satisfied they can grow together.
