On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, about 8000 students of Nagpur city performed collective reading simultaneously in connection with National Mathematics Day.
A mass reading called ‘Bay aka Bey’ was organized by the Municipal Corporation and Agresar Foundation today at Chitnis Park, Mahal.
The program was presided over by the VNIT Director, Dr. Pramod Padole. Municipal Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, Deputy Commissioner Ravindra Bhelawe, Education Officer Rajendra Pusekar, Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar, Control Officer, Nitin Bhole, and Milind Bhakere were present during the program.
Students from different cities in India as well as students from America also participated in this online. In total 10, 000 students participated in this activity.
VNIT Director, Pramod Padole appreciated the initiative of the Municipal Corporation and Agresar Foundation. He said, “many NGOs work on different subjects, but Agresar is the organization working for mathematics and the support it receives from the Municipal Corporation is really appreciable.”
Additional Commissioner, Ram Joshi launched the initiative “Bey Ek Bey” for the students only. Not only for their improvement but also for the intellectual development of the students by creating mathematical interest in them which is a very important thing to do.
The competition was conducted in all the schools by the Agresar Foundation, the foundation has been working tirelessly for the past 15 days. The competition was held in two groups namely Class 5,6 and 7 and Class 8, 9, and 10. Momentum and prizes were awarded to the students of each school and a cash prize of 5000 to the first, 3000 to the second, and 2000 to the third prize winner of the city was given. A cash prize to the students was given by VNIT Nagpur.
