The tigress T65 was spotted carrying one cub during the late evening on Thursday. The cub was one month old. The tigress was seen holding by tail side on Bandra Khursapar Road in Deolapar Range of Pench Tiger Reserve Maharashtra on December 22, 2022.
According to the forest guard Chetan Umathe, considering the situation, the cub was dead. The field staff was sent the patrolling the said area on December 23, 2022 morning.
A ten-member team was sent as the tigress was with cubs. A partly consumed carcass of one tiger cub was found in compartment no. 498 of Bandra Round during patrolling.
The team moved away as the tigress was present in the area and growling loudly. The further process will be completed as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the NTCA after the tigress moves out of the area.
The deputy director said, “Camera traps have been installed and patrolling teams have been deployed”. Further action will be taken once the tigress moves elsewhere.
