On Friday, a group of robbers broke into an SBI branch in Kanpur’s Sachendi and stole gold worth Rs. 1 crore. The criminals allegedly constructed a tunnel to transport the loot, according to the police.
The locker was opened by unidentified intruders using a gas cutter. Additionally, they switched the strongroom’s solitary CCTV camera in the opposite direction and turned off the alarm system.
The bank officials claim that more than 1.8 kg of gold worth roughly $1 million has been stolen.
