Police have recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 80 lakh in Mumbai’s Powai area, all are fake Rs 500 currency notes.
Police arrested a person in this connection, who has been identified as Saujanya Bhushan Patil (31).
According to Senior Police Inspector Satish Kamble of the Mumbai Crime Branch based on a tip-off held the accused with fake currency near Ambedkar Garden in Powai on Wednesday night. He was immediately arrested with a bag containing fake currency notes.
The accused told the police that he was going to distribute the fake notes in different areas of Mumbai. An investigation is underway relating to the involvement of any gang involved in the operation.
