The old British-era structure in Ajni, which was built in 1927 and is in a very poor condition, would be replaced by the proposed railway over bridge (ROB), the Maharashtra government assured the assembly on Wednesday. During the question period, industries minister Uday Samant responded to a question from MLA Mohan Mate by stating that the government had already issued a tender for Rs 188.72 crore.
“There was some confusion over who would build the bridge-railway or Nagpur Municipal Corporation,” Samant continued (NMC). The bridge would be built by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC), a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and the ministry of railways. We’ll soon begin working.
Nitin Raut, a former guardian minister, questioned the administration about whether or not money had been received for the six-lane cable-stayed bridge and when construction would start. He was informed by Samant that although the funds had not yet been issued, the government would still provide adequate funding for the project. Vikas Thakre, a state legislator, questioned whether the current bridge would be blocked to traffic and who would be in charge of accidents along that stretch.
