A mega science exhibition ‘Pride of India’, a key attraction in the 108TH Indian Science Congress wasinaugurated by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences here today.
Pride of India is a grand expo to present the scientific progress achieved by the public and private entities. As many as 150 scientific organizations from across the country are participating in this expo which is spread across 9000 sq. mt. The exhibition will be open to public free of charge from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 AM to 06 PM.
The minister was accompanied by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, RTMNU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Subhash Chaudhari, ISCA General President Dr. Vijay Laxmi Saxena, Pro VC Dr. Sanjay Dudhe, Mr. Ravi Boratkar of organizer MMActiv and others.
The major attractions will be the pavilions of Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) & Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) where actual scale models of rockets, missiles and satellite transponders are exhibited. Leading R&D Institutions like Indian Council of Medical Research, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Council of Scientific & Industrial Research and PSUs functioning in diverse streams of science such as Nuclear Power Corporation of India, WCL, NHAI, ECIL, Indian Oilare going to showcase their latest works and initiatives. Corporate giants & MNCs like Tata Steel & Primus will woo the young professionals to their pavilions.
Hall of Pride, a dedicated pavilion displays the work and life of the Indian women scientists who have created an indelible mark globally in various sciences and given the country a place of pride in the world. Complementing the theme of the Indian Science Congress; this unique pavilion, designed by India’s leading artists, has been conceptualized to salute the contributions and progress made by women in the field of science & Technology as well as other important professional verticals like Industry, Education, IT, Biotechnology, banking and Media Sector, to list a few.
RTMNU being the host university is going to present its latest incubation facilities, product developments and R&D initiatives. The Expo has a special pavilion of ‘eduvision’which displays premier education institutes. To name a few of them ; IIT Madras, Amity University, FRM University, MIT Pune are participating. The host state Maharashtra and all the participating states are presenting their various initiatives in the state pavilions. A number of central government ministries and government departments like the Ministry of Earth Sciences, National Council of Science Museums, Zoological Survey of India, National Research Development Corporation are also participating.
