Aarti Madan Gurav, 19, a resident of Satona in the Bhandara district and a first-year BE student at Wainganga Engineering College near Dongargaon, passed away after being struck by a speeding train. She was reportedly wearing headphones as she crossed the railroad tracks.
On Wednesday, the event happened close to the Dongargaon railway crossing in the Hingna tehsil. She was using headphones to converse on her telephone while strolling alongside railroad lines to the train station.
She didn’t seem to have heard the train coming close to the railroad crossing. Others yelled for Aarti to get off the tracks when they saw her and the train, but she couldn’t hear them because of her headphones. She was killed instantly when the Pune-Nagpur train struck and dragged her around 50 feet.
